Fireside Chat: Amjad Masad and Balaji Srinivasan
From Idea to Company: Amjad Masad in Conversation with Balaji Srinivasan
Network School welcomes Amjad Masad, co-founder and CEO of Replit, to Kazakhstan for a fireside chat with Balaji Srinivasan at Alem.ai in Astana.
Amjad has spent his career making it easier for people to build software. As Codecademy’s founding engineer, and later a leader on Facebook’s JavaScript infrastructure team, he helped create tools that opened programming to more people. At Replit, he has taken that mission further: its AI platform lets users build and launch applications by describing what they want to create, giving founders, students, and established businesses a new way to bring their ideas to life.
His visit comes as Kazakhstan marks its Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence and as Replit expands its ambitions beyond how software gets built to how businesses operate. With the recent introduction of Replit for Business, Amjad has outlined a vision for the “self-driving company,” where people set direction and exercise judgment while AI agents handle more of the execution.
In this conversation, Balaji will explore that future with someone actively building it. What can a small team accomplish today that would have required an entire company a few years ago? Which skills become more valuable as software becomes easier to create? And how can founders in Kazakhstan use these capabilities to build businesses that reach the world?
Balaji Srinivasan is the founder of Network School, former CTO of Coinbase, a former general partner at Andreessen Horowitz, and author of The Network State. Network School is an international community in Astana bringing together founders, technologists, and creators to live, learn, and build together, with technology, fitness, and entrepreneurship at the heart of daily life.
Join us for a conversation about what AI makes possible, and what it still takes to build something that matters.
