Grassroots Leadership: Power, Partnership, and Pathways to Growth
Event Description
Grassroots organizations are at the heart of social change, deeply embedded in communities, responsive to local realities, and trusted by the people they serve. Yet despite their central role, they often face barriers to funding, partnerships, and visibility within the broader development ecosystem.
This session focuses on how to strengthen and resource grassroots leadership as a driving force for sustainable development. What does it take for community-led initiatives to grow while maintaining their authenticity, trust, and impact?
We will explore practical models for equitable partnerships between grassroots organizations and larger NGOs, funders, and institutions, as well as funding approaches that shift power toward those closest to the work. The conversation will also examine how grassroots efforts in areas like climate adaptation, justice, and community development can access the support needed to expand their reach without losing their core identity.
Bringing together grassroots leaders, funders, and partners, this session will focus on how to build an ecosystem that recognizes, supports, and invests in grassroots leadership as essential infrastructure for lasting change.
