Community-Led Change: From Buzzwords to Sustainable Action
“Community-led” and “partnership” have become development buzzwords, but what do they actually look like in practice? Too often, global agendas center Northern institutions while innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders from climate-vulnerable regions remain sidelined. To build sustainable, equitable futures, we must shift power, financing, and decision-making to those with lived experience and local expertise.
This session will explore models of community-driven development that last — from locally led adaptation and resilience strategies to innovative financing and technology that strengthens grassroots leadership. Together, we’ll ask: how do we move from talking about community-led change to actually practicing it?
Speakers
