AI Compute & Hardware: Functional Systems & Generative Silicon Design
The Future of AI Compute: Functional Systems & Generative Silicon Design
The next generation of AI isn't just about bigger models, it's about the hardware that runs them and the software paradigms that orchestrate them.
Join the Bay Area Computer Vision Group at the Samsung Semiconductor Global for two cutting-edge technical talks. We will explore how functional programming is solving the AI/hardware orchestration crisis, and how we are moving toward an AI Cursor that automates chip design itself.
Agenda
5:30 PM: Doors Open, Snacks & Networking
6:00 PM: Keynote by Sangyeol Kang (Head of RISCV, Samsung)
6:10 PM: Talk 1: Functional Intelligence w/ Kannupriya Kalra
6:45 PM: Talk 2: AI-Created Silicon w/ Pritish Yuvraj
7:30 PM: Q&A and Social Hour
The Talks
Talk 1: Functional Intelligence: Building Scalable AI Systems for the Hardware Era
As AI models demand specialized hardware, our software must evolve.
Kannupriya Kalra explores how functional principles and Scala-based frameworks build resilient backends.
Orchestration: How functional abstractions simplify the complexity of AI/hardware interaction.
Scalability: Strategies to make AI pipelines composable, explainable, and performance-portable.
The Stack: Deep dive into LLM4S (Scala-first AI platform) and lessons from the Scala Center.
Talk 2: AI-Created Silicon: The Next Frontier Beyond GPUs and TPUs
Hardware fuels AI, but can AI design hardware?
Pritish Yuvraj introduces the concept of an "AI Cursor for Chip Design", an intelligent co-designer.
Automated Creativity:Converging LLMs, circuit simulation, and reinforcement learning to prototype chips.
Fabrication-Ready:Understanding architecture tradeoffs and cost constraints via AI.
The Future: Moving beyond Nvidia's dominance to democratize silicon design.
🎤 Meet the Speakers
Engineering Leader & Scala Specialist
Kannupriya has over a decade of experience building scalable backend systems. She co-created LLM4S, the first AI-native platform for Scala, and founded the first LLM4S community dedicated to the intersection of AI and Scala. She is a key contributor to the open-source ecosystem (Scala Center, Scaladex).
CTO @ Flexify.AI | Ex-Meta LLaMA Team
Pritish is the Co-Founder/CTO of Flexify.AI (SkyDeck Batch 20).4 Previously, he was a Machine Learning Engineer on the Meta LLaMA team, where he co-authored the LLaMA 3 and LLaMA 4 papers and led the LLaMA Multilingual team.
Moderator Ansh Shah:
Ansh is a Product Manager specializing in hardware and AI software integration. His experience spans AI-powered accessibility solutions at Microsoft, broadcast technology for NBCUniversal’s Paris Olympics coverage, and at Digital Control for modern HDD systems. He is currently focused on building and training autonomous agents.
