A Culture for Climate & Health Reception: How Culture Can Help Drive Implementation of the Belém Health Action Plan
Join us for A Culture for Climate and Health Reception, an evening of connection and collaboration, hosted by Wellcome.
This event will bring together leaders, policymakers, and advocates to explore how culture and health can serve as powerful enablers of human and social development in the face of climate change.
The reception will celebrate the COP30 Action Agenda Axis 5: Foster Human and Social Development, with particular attention to promoting resilient health systems and advancing culture, cultural heritage protection, and climate action.
Hosted by Alan Dangour, Director of Climate and Health at Wellcome, with an intimate fireside chat with Dr. Ethel Maciel, COP30 Sectoral Envoy for Health and Solitaire Townsend, Co-Founder & Chief Solutionist at Futerra and Trustee of the Solutions Union Charity to discuss the role of culture and storytelling to further embed health considerations in global climate policy discussions and build political momentum behind the Belém Health Action Plan.

Flow is a collaborative project led by In Place of War and supported by the Observatory, Festival Bananada (Brazil), Se Rasgum Festival (Belém), Something Something, Laboratório de História Natural dos Anfíbios Brasileiros, and Stúdio Mécanique, funded by Wellcome and The Linbury Trust.
The artists will work together to explore the theme of water (droughts, floods and rising sea levels), gender and health leveraging sensory experiences of water related to climate change. This will culminate in a music album, performances at COP30, and high-tech art-film immersive installation exploring the impacts of climate change through the flow of voices, words and rap.
