Immersive Hackathon - 48hr VR Storytelling
The DeoVR Creator Lab is a 48-hour immersive filmmaking sprint where participants team up to conceptualize, shoot, edit, and publish a VR video from start to finish - all inside the Helsinki XR Center.
Whether you’re an experienced VR filmmaker or just entering the world of immersive storytelling, this hackathon gives you the tools, mentorship, and platform visibility to bring a full VR experience to life.

🎬 What You’ll Do
Over two fast-paced days, you’ll:
Form a balanced team of 5–6 creators (e.g. director, filmmaker, editor, actor, concept writer)
Develop a story or visual idea and bring it to life with professional 180°/360° cameras
Work with experienced mentors for creative and technical guidance
Edit in a provided workstation with VR post-production tools
Publish the final project on DeoVR
Showcase your finished work at the final screening and award ceremony
Who Can Apply
This hackathon welcomes both experienced creators and newcomers. VR filmmakers, editors, directors, creators, and immersive storytellers - everyone welcome. Each application will be reviewed to ensure balanced teams.
Experienced candidates will be assigned roles that support direction, shooting, and post-production.
Beginners or first-timers will be placed into teams where they can learn by creating alongside more experienced teammates.
If you're joining solo, we will match you with a team and give you the chance to connect ahead of time, so your group can start brainstorming before Day 1.
✨ Solo Track:
We believe immersive content shouldn’t be gatekept, if you already own a VR180/VR360 camera you’re welcome to bring and use your own setup.
You are not required to use the provided equipment, and you are not required to join a team if you prefer to work solo, just make sure to mention this in the registration form under the “Team” section so we can plan accordingly.
