Hands-on Workshop: Learn vibe coding with Claude | Build Live App in One Afternoon
Walk in with an idea. Leave with a working first version of it, live at a URL you can send to anyone, with a good understanding of different areas of software development - UI, Backend, Cloud, Monitoring etc.
Not a pretty screen - a real app with a database and user logins. No coding background required.
What you'll do
Plan it — pressure-test your idea with Claude: who it's for, the one job it does, what to cut from version one. Map your screens and your data before you build.
Build it — generate the app's screens from your plan and shape the layout live.
Add the backend — wire up Supabase (a database service that also handles sign-ups) so your data sticks around and users can log in with email or Google.
Wire in the rest — as far as your idea needs and the afternoon allows: transactional email, an outside service your product depends on, or Stripe if you're selling something.
Ship it — hit your first errors and fix them with help in the room, test with real data, deploy to a live URL.
That last part is the reason to be here rather than watching a tutorial. The first deploy error is where most people quit alone.
What you'll realistically leave with
A live URL, a working database, and logins that work. That's the bar we hold ourselves to.
Integrations vary. Stripe in particular needs business verification on their side that can take days, so if payments are core to your idea, expect to finish that at home. Four hours gets you a real first version, not a finished product — but you'll leave with something running rather than a plan to start.
Tools
Claude for product thinking and code, Vercel for hosting, Supabase for database and login, Stripe if you're taking payments.
Bring a laptop. You'll set up accounts as we go — these tools are chosen because they have usable free tiers, but check their current plans if budget is tight.
Who's teaching
Dean Grover, founder of Chanl AI. Two decades building software products, including at Cisco and Paramount, on systems that shipped to more than 100 million homes. He builds AI products full-time now, and teaches with the tools he ships with.
Format
The full afternoon: a 90-minute hands-on workshop, then a 2.5-hour working session where you build in the room with us rather than watch a demo. Capped at 15, so there's room to get unstuck — if you're stuck, say so.
Who it's for
Founders, solopreneurs, and small teams. No coding experience needed. Come with an idea — it doesn't need to be fully formed, but the afternoon goes better if you're not choosing one at 1pm.
Pricing
This session on its own is $25. Sessions 2, 3 and 4 are $49 each.
The $149 all-sessions pass covers all four workshops, plus the four working sessions (Aug 21, Sep 4, Sep 18) and the Oct 2 concluding presentations. The bundled pass is cheaper and the working sessions come with it.
Fabrik members: this first session is free, and later sessions are half price.
Tickets are non-refundable.
