Connecting to Ancestry Through Weaving
In this art therapy workshop taught by Alex Galván, MSW, LSW (she/they), we will use the practice of sustainable weaving through recycled fiber and cardboard looms to reconnect with ancestral land practices through reuse. You will be able to make small wall hangings, coasters, or bookmarks! We will explore alchemizing our emotions to support ourselves and each other, drawing on the facilitator’s experiences in Oaxaca, Mexico and Ghana. We will provide all materials, but please feel free to bring fabric or yarn that you would like to use or that has a special meaning to you.
This class takes place during Ramadan, which means we will have flexible start and end times, as well as comfortable places to pray and plenty of snacks!
