Workshop Description  In this hands-on workshop, small groups tackle real Oakland community scenarios — heat waves, clean energy access, food resilience, land memory — and prototype a community-centered solution from scratch. Participants will use collaborative design grounded in the question of what energy technology would look like if the people most affected by climate inequity were the ones building it.

About the workshop lead: Mubarak Haruna is Product Manager at BRIDGEGOOD and Program Lead for the Cybersecurity + AI for Social Good. He works at the intersection of product strategy, community innovation, and economic mobility, helping transform bold ideas into programs and platforms that create real opportunity for learners and job seekers.

At BRIDGEGOOD, Mubarak leads community centered work in cybersecurity, AI, and design, with a focus on making emerging technology more accessible, practical, and equitable for underrepresented communities. His leadership reflects BRIDGEGOOD’s commitment to tuition free pathways into tech and creative careers.

Mubarak brings a multidisciplinary background across EdTech, and social impact. Prior to and alongside his work at BRIDGEGOOD, he developed experience in user centered problem solving, and mission driven innovation, building tools and experiences designed to increase engagement, access, and long term value. He is known for combining strategic thinking with clear storytelling and a strong sense of purpose, helping teams move from vision to execution with community needs at the center.

At BRIDGEGOOD, Mubarak is part of a new generation of leaders advancing design and technology for social good. Whether he is developing products, shaping new learning experiences, convening industry voices, or expanding access to cybersecurity and AI education, his work is rooted in a simple belief: Innovation should open doors, not close them.
