Enlit Africa Briefing: The Business of Power

Canadian Delegation, Project Opportunities, and Lessons from a Ghana Trade Mission

More than 600 million people across Africa still lack reliable access to electricity, and hundreds of billions of dollars in investment will be required in power generation, transmission, distribution, and energy technology over the next decade. This represents one of the largest infrastructure and energy opportunities in the world today.

Canadian companies have expertise in clean energy, engineering, grid technology, digital infrastructure, and project development that is highly relevant to these projects. The question for many organizations is how to access these opportunities, partners, and projects.

Enlit Africa’s Project and Investment Network is a platform where utilities, governments, project developers, investors, and technology providers come together to move energy and infrastructure projects forward across Africa through pre arranged meetings, deal rooms, and project briefings.

Trade Without Borders is hosting this virtual briefing with the Government of Alberta, Ministry of Jobs, Economy, Trade & Immigration to provide an overview of Enlit Africa, how the Canadian delegation works, how companies are matched to projects and partners, and who should consider participating.

We will also hear from Wunmi Akinlosotu, who recently led a business delegation to Ghana and will share practical insights on entering African markets, building relationships on the ground, and lessons learned from leading a delegation.

Who should attend:

Clean energy and power companies
Engineering, EPC, and infrastructure firms
Technology companies working in energy, AI, grid tech, or digital infrastructure
Project developers and investors
Professional services supporting infrastructure and project finance
Organizations exploring international markets

About the Trade Without Borders Market Briefings Series

This session is part of the Trade Without Borders Market Briefings Series, which connects Canadian companies and organizations to opportunities in global markets through conversations with government leaders, business leaders, investors, chambers of commerce and trade practitioners who are actively working in those regions.

Each briefing focuses on a specific market or area of opportunity and is designed to help companies understand how markets work, where opportunities exist, and how to access partners, projects, and customers.

Trade Without Borders focuses on global markets including Africa, India, the Middle East, ASEAN, China, and Latin America, and works to connect Canadian organizations to opportunities in these regions through relationships, market briefings, delegations, and trade missions.
