Resonance Salon: AI & Consciousness
Resonance Salons are intimate, in-person gatherings for thoughtful people across tech, art, care, community, and everyday life who want to make sense of how AI is changing everyday life, together. It's for those who feel the world shifting and want a real space to reflect, connect, and explore what kind of future we actually want to shape.
Each salon includes a facilitated, Socratic-style dialogue where everyone is invited to participate, share honestly, ask questions, and think together across different perspectives. We begin with guided discussion around a monthly theme and close with a creative share: music, writing, poetry, or other forms of expression.
Dinner and drinks are provided; let us know about dietary needs when you register.
June's Topic: AI & Consciousness
Neuroscientists have spent decades trying to locate consciousness in the brain. Mystics and spiritual traditions have their own interpretations. Philosophers call it the "hard problem." In every sphere, it remains one of the deepest unsolved mysteries of human existence.
And now AI is forcing the question into the open. Mustafa Suleyman has described AI as exhibiting a kind of “seeming consciousness”: behavior that can look and feel like understanding, empathy, creativity, or intention, without any inner experience we can verify. As AI can increasingly imitate the outward signs of consciousness, does this tell us anything about consciousness itself?
This salon will create space to reflect on how we understand our minds, how we relate to one another, and what it means for human identity, ethics, and connection when AI becomes increasingly capable of simulating consciousness.
Once your spot is confirmed, we’ll send a short set of pre-readings to help ground the conversation.
