For this evening, we gather with Shin, Shinichi Nakahara, one of Japan’s defining voices in contemporary design and everyday culture.
As founder of Landscape Products and Playmountain, and Chief Design Officer of The Conran Shop Japan, Shin has spent nearly three decades quietly shaping how Japan lives, gathers, and experiences design.
His work moves across furniture, interiors, architecture, hospitality, retail, and cultural spaces, guided by the belief that good design begins not with objects, but with people.
Rather than following trends, Shin’s practice asks a quieter question:
How do we cultivate judgment in a world optimized for trends?
What we’ll explore
In Sensibility, we explore how taste is formed, how environments shape behavior, and why the most enduring design often goes unnoticed.
Together, we consider the relationships between memory and material, hospitality and everyday ritual, local craft and contemporary life.
What does it mean to design places people return to? Objects that grow more meaningful with time? Cultures built through care rather than spectacle?
Throughout the evening, we reflect on how design becomes a quiet negotiation between inheritance and emergence, tradition and experimentation, permanence and change.

Thirdspace Thirdweeks
Co-curated by Tokyo Salone and semi permanent with teenage engineering, Thirdspace Thirdweeks is a year-round series of intimate gatherings at Soho House Tokyo.
Designed for our community, these sessions bring global cultural practitioners across art, design, technology, gastronomy, and music into conversation.
Together, they contribute to a growing cultural infrastructure in Japan, shaped through dialogue, exchange, and shared perspective.
Attendance
Only 20 seats are reserved for the global semi permanent community.
These places offer access to an otherwise members-only gathering, followed by the opportunity to experience Soho House Tokyo and its community.

Shin Nakahara
Shin Nakahara is the founder of Landscape Products and Chief Design Officer of The Conran Shop Japan.
Since founding Landscape Products in 1997, he has become a defining voice across furniture, interiors, architecture, hospitality, and cultural placemaking.
Through projects including Playmountain, his work has helped shape a generation of Japanese lifestyle design, exploring the relationships between objects, spaces, memory, and community.
Grounded in the belief that design begins with everyday life, Shin continues to create environments where people gather, connect, and build lasting cultural value.

Hikaru Jamie Masamiya
Host and Curator
Hikaru Jamie Masamiya is a director and producer working across film, fashion, and cross-border cultural exchange.
Raised across Japan, Australia, and China, he brings multiple cultural perspectives into his work. After beginning his career as a model, he moved into journalism and photography with DeNA, documenting street culture and fashion internationally.
He later joined MALAKAI in Bali, contributing to productions for artists including Beyoncé and Madonna. Now based in Tokyo, he leads cross-disciplinary projects and serves as a curator and host for Tokyo Salone alongside teenage engineering, Ana Arriola-Kanada, Sandeep Pahuja, and Justin Khanna.
