About Event

UPDATE: We’ve added an informal Q&A session with Representative Sean Casten! Starting at 5pm, Rep. Casten will take attendee questions before the opening remarks and official panel discussion begin at 5:30pm.

Join the Illinois Science & Technology Coalition (ISTC) for the next ISTConversations panel as we explore how STEM education sparks curiosity, helps students discover their interests, and lays the foundation for future career paths and opportunities.

The March installment of ISTConversations will feature a discussion about how intentional STEM education prepares students for evolving, thriving careers that support Illinois’ long-term growth.

Come for the insights. Stay for the community. Depart feeling inspired by what’s being built in Illinois.

Featuring education advocates:

  • Congressman Sean Casten; As a scientist, clean energy entrepreneur, and former CEO, Rep. Casten brings a unique perspective from both the private and public sectors, with a focus on advancing solutions that drive innovation, economic growth, and opportunity.

  • University of Chicago AVP for Science Julia Lane; Julia leads strategies to accelerate growth across the university’s science, engineering, and innovation portfolio. She plays a central role in advancing high-impact public–private partnerships that position Chicago as a global hub for technology and scientific innovation.

  • ISTC President and CEO, Kate Calabra; Kate spearheads initiatives to accelerate economic growth and foster a vibrant innovation ecosystem across Illinois while positioning ISTC as the critical link between state government, key industries, and academic institutions.
