About this event

The session will explore how digital assets and digital money are converging, and why regulated Layer 1 (RL1) blockchain infrastructures are becoming central to the future of financial markets. As tokenisation, CBDCs and stablecoins advance, both private actors and regulators are now building or evaluating RL1 networks that can combine institutional-grade compliance, governance, and security with the innovation capacity of blockchain.

The discussion will highlight:

  • why regulated Layer 1s are emerging now and what problems they solve for financial institutions

  • how industry players are designing and deploying these networks in practice

  • how RL1s complement public blockchains – including SG-FORGE’s perspective on connecting traditional finance and the crypto ecosystem via stablecoins and public-chain interoperability

  • how tokenisation, settlement, and digital money can be integrated in a secure and scalable way

  • and how the public sector (e.g., central banks, regulators) is exploring long-term frameworks alongside the industry.

Participants of the Panel

  • Jens Siebert (KPMG Germany - Partner, Financial Services)

  • David Durouchoux (Deputy CEO Société Générale FORGE)

  • Karen Ottoni (Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust, Senior Director of Ecosystem & Strategic Initiatives)

  • Georg Schneider (Canton Network - Global Head of RWA)
