Design Mode: ON is an evening for designers and creatives who think with their hands, their eyes, and their gut.
For people who care about judgment, taste, authorship.
And who are curious about how AI is quietly, and not so quietly, reshaping all three.
This is not a talk.
Not a panel.
Not content.
It’s a room. And good conversations.
This is a conversation-first evening.
No slides.
No stage.
No one is watching from the sidelines.
We’ll have food🍕 and drinks🥤 to keep things flowing.
18:30 — Arrive, grab a drink
Come in at your own pace.
Get comfortable.
Join a conversation when it feels right.
18:45 — Opening the night
A short welcome to set the tone.
Then the night unfolds.
19:00 — Conversations begin
Small groups form naturally around a few themes.
You’re free to stay, drift between conversations, or simply listen in.
Topic 1: TASTE
Design judgment in the age of AI.
Conversations might touch on:
– Knowing when something feels “off” even if AI says it’s good
– What we automate vs what we leave to human judgment
– Defending taste without sounding vague
Topic 2: INTERACTION
Exploring new human–AI relationships.
Conversations might explore:
– When AI feels like a tool vs a collaborator
– Moments of trust, friction, or surprise
– Designing interactions that feel human, not clever
Topic 3: AGENCY
Systems, autonomy, behaviour.
Conversations might include:
– OpenClaw-style agents that act without waiting for instructions
– Design systems as decision-making systems, not just components
– Designing guardrails that still allow improvisation
Topic 4: VIBE CODING
Intuition-led making.
Conversations might wander through:
– Finding your own rhythm with AI tools
– Knowing when to push, when to pause
– Turning happy accidents into repeatable skills
Listening counts.
There’s no obligation to stay in one place.

We’ll gently close the room and point to a nearby pub for anyone who wants to keep the conversation going.
