​Eric Moe from Djoule discusses how thermal energy storage is one of the most powerful tools to enhance the economics, operation, and performance of energy districts and the electric grid. This presentation will discuss new and existing applications and technologies in operation and development including the economic motives for investment and renewal. dJoule will discuss our North American market development efforts with AQVANA (our wholly owned subsidiary). AQVANA is an American ice slurry technology packaging company that develops long duration storage and dispatchable capacity for growing energy districts.

​Bio: Eric Moe is a co-founder of dJoule LLC (pronounced “jewel”) a North American district energy development company based in Seattle. dJoule initiatives are focused on grid integration, waste heat recovery, and decarbonization with scale.

​Eric is a system integrator and entrepreneur. He is on the executive board of the CleanTech Alliance and is a long-time active member of the International District Energy Association. He develops new assets, applications, strategies, and technologies with clients, industry allies, and partners.

​Eric worked with the Navy (civilian) and Boeing before graduate school followed by his first startup, capital raise, and bruises with Centriflow. Eric is inspired by the scale, impact, and potential for modern district energy, and he has been an active leader in this sector and the region since 2001. Eric has his engineering, MSE, and MBA from the University of Washington.

​He lives on a farm on Bainbridge Island with his amazing partner who runs her own successful business while juggling more than her fair share.
