The Solar Playshop
Are you a maker, artist, designer, or developer curious about what it means to create games and playful media sustainably? Join us at 49 McCaul St. Toronto/Butterfield Park for a two-day Solar Playshop where we’ll make and think together using solar-energy as both a technology and a creative prompt— and ask what genuinely sustainable creative practice looks like in practice. Activities will include hands-on making with hardware, software and/or analog tools, light group discussion, and peer exchange. Participants should have some familiarity with computing, but no specific (high or low) level of technical expertise with solar power is required— curiosity and an interest in questions of energy, sustainability, and creative practice are welcome.
Please note space is limited and will prioritize Digital Futures extended community (students, faculty, staff, alumni and community partners). Invited participants will receive a confirmation invitation for the workshop and a link to our website prior to the event.
This Playshop is brought to you by OCAD University's game:play Lab and the Global Centre for Climate Action, with the generous support of BMO.
