The Cyberdelic Hackathon
On November 8–9, 2025, the Cyberdelic Society Berlin invites developers, artists, musicians and visionaries to Berlin’s legendary hacker haven, the crashed spaceship c-base for a two-day immersive hackathon exploring the frontiers of synesthetic design, mixed reality, and audio-reactive art.
The Mission:
To co-create an open-source, synesthesia-inspired mixed-reality tool, a new instrument that merges sound, light, and motion into one seamless sensory system.
Built with open source tools and designed for MR headsets, this prototype aims to enhance audiovisual performance, deepen immersion, and expand perception.
All projects, code, and assets remain community-owned under an open-source license.
Core Intentions:
Open Collaboration: build an audio-reactive MR VJ tool freely available to all
Cross-Disciplinary Creation: unite developers, artists, musicians, designers and researchers around the exploration of synesthesia
Applied Perception Research: prototype how technology can extend our senses and foster shared, embodied experiences
Showcase & Evolve: culminate with a live MR performance at c-base then carry the work forward into future cyberdelic development
Sustainable Community: seed a global network for ongoing open-source sensory innovation.
Hacker Tracks:
Participants choose their profile and will form hybrid teams:
Hackers: experts in 3D software, game engines, XR development, or creative coding
Artists: musicians, artists, sound and UX/ designers
Researchers: consciousness and neuroscience explorers
Enthusiasts: visionaries, experience designers, testers and cybernauts who feel the creative pull about the project.
Each team would ideally include at least one of each blending technical precision with artistic intuition.

Unity Boilerplate Projects (audio-reactive & MR templates)
Meta Quest 3 / 3 S Headsets
Audio Gear & Instruments
Mentor Sessions on Unity, shaders, sound design, and sensory architecture
Prototypes must integrate interoperable communication workflows like NDI, Spout, MIDI to communicate with other softwares like TouchDesigner, Resolume Arena, Synesthesia and Ableton.
The Experience:
The event blends the focus of a hackathon with the play of an art jam.

A diverse, inclusive environment for all skill levels
Somatic recharge zones for nervous-system rest and creative flow
Workshops on context engineering and cyberdelic design
Peer-led evaluation: teams review each other’s prototypes, exchanging insight instead of competing
All teams share their Day 1 progress on a public GitHub and a collaborative Miro board visible on-site.

Open Source IP — All creations are community property. Sponsors sign NDAs; participants agree during signup.
Privacy — No-camera policy for a relaxed, safe space.
Access — Respect members-only areas and bar at c-base.
