AI Safety Reading Group - Succeed at AI Safety Hackathons (special) - Cheryl Aday & Andreas Turanski
Join us for a presentation on How to Get Into & Succeed at AI Safety Hackathons by Cheryl Aday and Andreas Turanski in this week’s special AI Safety Reading Group!
At this special session, we will be diving into how to get into and succeed in a hackathon in AI safety and governance. Next week, we will go back to our usual paper presentations.
What: We'll cover what happens at a hackathon, how to choose a project, how to find a team, and more.
Why: Hackathons let you move past learning into doing. They let you showcase your work, connect with peers and mentors, and contribute to the field.
Post: Hackathons give you something substantial that you can post about on your profile.
Prep:
Read Apart Research's guide to AI safety research hackathons (below) as a starting point.
Bring your own best tips and upcoming hackathons
We usually have ~100 participants for informed discussion. All are welcome (do read the paper/summary)! Every week, an author or group member presents the week's paper for up ~25 minutes, followed by an active discussion!
