About Event

Education is often framed as the foundation for transformation — yet too many systems remain fragmented, underfunded, and inequitable. Driving change requires more than focusing narrowly on literacy or STEM; it means strengthening the entire education “supply chain,” from classrooms to district structures, from local leadership to systemic policy. At the same time, new tools — from EdTech in low-resource settings to practical offline assessments — are reshaping what’s possible.

This session explores how to build more equitable, resilient education systems by centering community leadership, empowering the “middle tier,” and embracing innovative models for livelihoods and learning.

Speakers

  • James Gondwe — Founder & Executive Director of Ulalo, advancing education, youth empowerment, health, and community development in Malawi.

  • Moses Ssenyonjo — Director at Rwanda School Project, supporting education access and leadership development.

  • Priya Agrawal — Founder & Director of Antarang Foundation, Ashoka and ASPire Fellow with 20+ years’ experience advancing education-to-employment pathways for youth in partnership with state governments.

What to Expect

  • Examine impact frameworks – Explore how education and livelihoods outcomes can be measured in ways that drive equity and accountability.

  • Center local empowerment – Discuss how communities and district-level leaders can catalyze systemic change at the last mile.

  • Explore innovation with integrity – Consider how EdTech and offline tools can expand equity without leaving low-connectivity communities behind.

  • Strengthen the whole system – Challenge fragmented approaches by reimagining education as an interconnected chain requiring holistic investment.
