About Event

Agency, Privacy, Wellbeing, Due Process, Individual Expression. These are some of the common values - usually centered around individual rights - that are often prioritized in discussions of responsible tech and prosocial design. But are values centered around individual rights universal? In particular, do they represent the primary values in the Global Majority?

Join us for a discussion with Sabhanaz Rashid Diya, Executive Director at Tech Global Institute, on how our assumptions of prosocial design may be blind to the values outside of the West - for example, collective rights and social cohesion - and how our field might better reflect the diversity of global values in our work.

About Pro-Socials: Pro-Socials are informal meet-ups, where technologists and researchers can learn from - and inspire - each other around understanding and integrating prosocial design. Each Pro-Social includes a motivating question, conversation with experts and break-out convos where you can meet like-minded technologists (designers, product managers, entrepreneurs and trust & safety professionals) and researchers to share insights and begin to co-create new knowledge together.

In partnership with the Council on Technology and Social Cohesion.
