The Past, Present, and Future of The Grid with Stepchange feat. Nat Bullard
A conversation & happy hour
The American grid is at its most consequential moment in a century. Demand is surging for the first time in decades. The infrastructure is aging and breaking. And consumers are struggling to pay their bills. How did we get here — and what comes next?
Join Ben Eidelson and Anay Shah of Stepchange Ventures alongside Nat Bullard of Halcyon for a narrative tour through 140 years of grid history — from Niagara Falls to the AI data center boom. Dive deep into why the biggest machine on earth is stuck and what it takes to break it free.
Due to space limitations, this will be a curated gathering of founders, investors, and operators working to upgrade the grid. Come for the stories and stay to meet each other at our happy hour mixer.
Speakers
Ben and Anay co-founded Stepchange Ventures, an early stage energy and climate fund. Alongside the fund, they produce the Stepchange Show--a heavily researched podcast about the history of infrastructure. After covering data centers last September they have been working on the story of the grid, due out this month.
Nat Bullard is a co-founder of Halcyon, a vertical AI for energy company, and has spent nearly two decades at the intersection of energy, technology, and capital markets. He previously spent 15 years with BloombergNEF and wrote Sparklines, a weekly energy column reaching 250,000 subscribers. He produces an annual deck distilling the state of decarbonization into a mere 200 slides.
