ENABLE Canada – York
Building a Barrier-Free Future
Supported by Schulich Startups
Following community-led sessions in Niagara, Peterborough, and Sudbury, ENABLE Canada returns to York Region with a focused convening on May 7, bringing together leaders from government, education, employment, technology, and community organizations to advance inclusive workforce systems across the region.
With over 8 million Canadians living with a disability, many of whom remain excluded from meaningful employment despite being job-ready, York Region plays a critical role in shaping inclusive labour markets, accessible systems, and future-ready talent pipelines. ENABLE Canada – York is designed to create space for local decision-makers, institutions, and ecosystem leaders to align on practical, collaborative approaches to accessibility, inclusive hiring, and workforce participation.
This York-based convening emphasizes systems-level collaboration how municipalities, employers, post-secondary institutions, nonprofits, and innovators across York Region and the GTA North can work together to reduce fragmentation and strengthen long-term employment outcomes for people with disabilities. Additional details, including partners and initiatives, will be shared soon.
