About Event

Pan-European Wildfire Combat Hackathon – Simultaneous in Berlin & Coimbra | This is the Berlin Chapter

Time to Redefine How Europe Fights Wildfires 🔥

Join us and 100+ hackers from all across Europe and beyond for the Wildfire Combat Hackathon on May 29–31, 2026 — running simultaneously in Berlin and Coimbra as a true pan-European event. This is the Berlin chapter. For Coimbra, follow: https://luma.com/8pkjjdf5

Goal

For decades, wildfire innovation has concentrated on detection and monitoring — identifying when fires start and measuring how they spread. But the decisive moment — active suppression and tactical response — remains largely dependent on human exposure to extreme risk. This has limited experimentation, scalability, and technological progress.

That changes now. With the rise of autonomous ground and aerial vehicles, swarm robotics, AI-driven suppression systems, and real-time data fusion, active wildfire combat can become intelligent, scalable, and cost-effective. This hackathon will demonstrate that Europe has the talent and drive to make it happen.

Get inspired by the challenge areas we have prepared, or bring your own project. You'll get feedback from operators, researchers, and first responders who have been on the frontline — to ensure you're solving real problems.

Our goal with the hackathon is to put you in a position to continue towards deployment.

Challenge Areas

Software & Intelligence — AI-driven decision support, data fusion platforms, digital twins for wildfire environments, resource allocation optimization, real-time scenario simulation, predictive and adaptive response systems.

Aerial & Ground Combat Systems — Drones and unmanned aerial systems, autonomous ground vehicles, air–ground coordination, swarm-based suppression approaches, communication and interoperability tools, human augmentation technologies.

Visitors

If you're curious about the outcomes and what the teams have built, you're welcome to join the Demo Day on Sunday by selecting a Community Visitor ticket.
