We’re serving up a curious and thought-provoking evening that combines senses, ideas, innovation and conversation in this intimate London venue.
The Sensologists is created by Sarah Hyndman. This is a community of people interested in all things multi-sensory and crossmodal. The event brings together speakers and guests from different industries.
“We’re bringing together speakers and guests from different industries as an antidote to today’s silos and seriousness. I believe sharing ideas and experiences across disciplines is a catalyst for new ways of thinking and working.”
Six-minute talks & experiments
This takes place in the immersive Flux Innovation Lounge, described by Time Out as “one of London’s most celebrated creative venues”. We’ve curated a series of six-minute talks and experimental multi-sensory activities designed to challenge how we experience the world around us.
We have an exciting lineup to share with you. Topics include sound and synaesthesia, Sensing Futures; new crossmodal smell/sound research; sounds of cities and memories; Architectural Smellscapes; casting magick in the Bank of England; a live fizzy tasting experiment; Hands On Sensuality and interactive movement art. All served up with sound, scent, touch and curiosity.
Sarah Hyndman is the emcee for the evening, she’ll also host a live fizzy experiment. Speakers include the internationally Renowned LJ Rich; Gulp founder Kaye Winwood; poet Thomas Sharp; Cities and Memory founder Stuart Fowkes; and smell/architecture author Dr Jieling Xiao. Fru Bekefi will talk sensory futures and Oriente Pimentel Aldaz will bring a taste of her sound/smell research at the Crossmodal Research Laboratory with Professor Charles Spence. (Speakers and topics may change.)
What to expect
This is not a typical networking event. It is a shared, in-person experience exploring new ideas, unexpected connections, and fresh ways of thinking across disciplines.
Expect curiosity, conversation, and moments that reveal the beautifully weird experience of being human.
Co-hosted by food anthropologist Caroline Hobkinson and sensory futures expert Fru Bekefi.
Who are we?
The Sensologists events are for anyone curious to talk to others about the crossover of multi-sensory experience, crossmodal science, technology and design.
Places are limited, please only sign up if you know you can attend and check out the journey in advance. (If your plans unfortunately change we’ll miss you, we appreciate you canceling your ticket in enough time for someone on the waiting list to attend in your place.)
