About Event

As the impacts of climate change accelerate, the solutions, from solar panels and EV chargers to home retrofits and premium disaster insurance, often come with a hefty price tag.

But what happens when climate resilience becomes a luxury?

Join us during SF Climate Week for a critical conversation on the intersection of affordability, equity, and the climate crisis. We'll explore how to build a resilient future that doesn't just protect the privileged, but actively includes and safeguards our most vulnerable communities.

What We’ll Discuss We are bringing together policy experts, community organizers, and climate innovators to tackle the real-world financial barriers to climate adaptation. Key topics will include:

  • Affordable Climate Solutions: How can we design, fund, and deploy climate technologies and disaster responses that don't break the bank for everyday people?

  • Building Resiliency on a Budget: Exploring community-driven and cost-effective ways to prepare for extreme weather, heat waves, and localized climate events.

  • The Renter’s Dilemma: Renters are disproportionately impacted by climate events but are routinely left out of the conversation because they don't own the properties they live in. How do we solve the "split incentive" problem and empower tenants to achieve climate resilience?

  • Policy & Equity: Examining local and state policies needed to ensure frontline communities and low-income households aren't left behind in the green transition.

Where? Moon Five's headquarters in Berkeley California's Gilman District.

Format? Hear from experts building affordable solutions and then break into focused small group discussions.

Who Should Attend? Whether you are a tenant rights advocate, a climate tech founder looking to scale accessible solutions, impact or climate investor, a policymaker, or simply a concerned Bay Area resident who rents, this conversation is for you. Come share your experiences, learn about emerging affordable solutions, and connect with others dedicated to an equitable climate transition.
