"The First Woke War" play reading
In celebration of UK Black History Month, Hustle Crew & Diversity VC present a reading of a new play "The First Woke War" at Second Home Spitalfields.
What is "The First Woke War" about?
What does it take for a Black woman to rise to the top in the tech world?
Set in AI startup Robodata in the months leading up to it's IPO on the London Stock Exchange, "The First Woke War" is a play about the price we pay to win at work.
Abadesi Osunsade, Founder & CEO of Hustle Crew, is the writer and creator of "The First Woke War".
Why is Hustle Crew producing a play?
Since 2016, Hustle Crew has been on a mission to make tech more inclusive. We've delivered thousands of hours of training for the biggest brands in tech and beyond like Amazon and Netflix.
Now we're expanding into theatre to continue making lasting positive change on the inclusion front.
In celebration of UK Black History month, Hustle Crew and Second Home Spitalfields are partnering to host a reading of our play "The First Woke War".
After the reading, Abadesi will facilitate a Q&A with the audience and cast.
What are the long-term goals for the play?
The play aims to heighten levels of empathy and compassion for courageous Black leaders who dare to challenge the status quo.
Our long-term goal is to stage a full production of the play in a London theatre, and tour the play in offices to spark meaningful conversations in diverse teams.
How can I support the play?
