Resonance Salon: AI, Slop, and the Future of Culture
Resonance Salons are intimate, in-person gatherings for thoughtful people across tech, art, care, community, and everyday life who want to make sense of how AI is changing everyday life, together. It's for those who feel the world shifting and want a real space to reflect, connect, and explore what kind of future we actually want to shape. Each salon includes a facilitated, Socratic-style dialogue where everyone is invited to participate, share honestly, ask questions, and think together across different perspectives. Dinner and drinks are provided; let us know about dietary needs when you register.
Theme: Slop and the Future of Culture
AI has made it easier than ever to generate images, songs, videos, essays, books and opinions at scale. As synthetic content floods our feeds, a new word has emerged to describe the feeling of cultural overwhelm: slop.
But what exactly makes something “slop”? Is it simply low-quality AI content, or something else? What happens when creative expression becomes infinitely abundant, instantly generated, and optimized for attention? And how do we protect the human qualities that make culture meaningful: taste, craft, context and connection?
In this salon, we’ll explore how AI-generated content is reshaping the cultural landscape: from music and visual art to social media, publishing, education, and everyday communication. We’ll ask what kinds of culture we want to preserve, what new forms might emerge, and how we want to respond.
