Gradations

A Thirdspace Thirdweeks gathering

Inherited gesture.
Contemporary line.
Form moving through time.

For this morning session, we gather with UESATSU, a graphic designer working between past and future monozukuri.

In Gradations, we explore how tradition is not simply preserved, but evolved. UESATSU’s practice reveals how form shifts over time, shaped by tension, perception, and material sensitivity.

Together, we consider how design becomes a quiet negotiation between memory and emergence.

Thirdspace Thirdweeks

Co-curated by Tokyo Salone and semi permanent with teenage engineering, Thirdspace Thirdweeks is a year-round series of intimate gatherings at Soho House Tokyo.

Designed for our community, these sessions bring global cultural practitioners across art, design, technology, gastronomy, and music into conversation.

Together, they contribute to a growing cultural infrastructure in Japan, shaped through dialogue, exchange, and shared perspective.

Attendance

Only 20 seats are reserved for the global semi permanent community.

These places offer access to an otherwise members-only gathering, followed by the opportunity to experience Soho House Tokyo and its community.

Attendance is subject to confirmation.

In conversation with

UESATSU

UESATSU is a Japanese designer and cultural practitioner whose work moves between form, identity, and lived experience.

Known for a distinct visual and material language, UESATSU explores how objects and environments carry meaning beyond function—shaping how we see, feel, and relate.

Their practice sits at the intersection of design, culture, and narrative, where restraint, tension, and intuition guide what is made and what is left unsaid.

Continue the conversation

Following the session, guests are invited to explore Soho House Tokyo, spend time within the House, and consider membership as part of this continuing relationship.

Venue

Soho House Tokyo

Founded in London in 1995 as a discreet refuge for creative minds, Soho House has grown into a global network grounded in culture and connection. Since April 2026, Soho House Tokyo continues this tradition from its home in Aoyama, one of the city’s most vital design districts.

Designed for connection and discretion, the House offers an environment where dialogue unfolds naturally, and relationships deepen over time.

Not a stage.

A room where velocity becomes conversation.

Partnering with Tokyo Salone

Tokyo Salone is built for the long term. Rather than sponsoring a single event, our partners become part of an evolving cultural institution connecting global creative communities with Japan.

If our ambitions align, we’d love to start a conversation.
