Agentic Coding Workshop: Building in the New Paradigm

The way we write code is fundamentally changing. AI coding tools have moved beyond autocomplete—they're now capable collaborators that are reshaping how founding engineers work.

Join two Founder/CTOs Kevin Suh and Arjun Kannan as they demo how they've integrated agentic coding into their daily workflows, walking through a live building session on a real product. Then, break into small groups to share how you work today, explore ways to level up your own workflow, and map out what you're going to try next.

And yes, we'll be diving deep into Cursor itself—what better place to learn than at their HQ?

About Your Hosts

Kevin Suh, Co-founder and CTO at Finley (YC W21) - Leading engineering at a Series A debt capital management platform. As the founding engineer at Nova Credit, Kevin was the first engineering hire and built the cash flow underwriting product that became the foundation of their core business—Nova Credit has since raised over $156M and reached Series D. Coming from a non-traditional technical background, Kevin brings a unique perspective on both sides of the founding engineer experience: joining early-stage companies and starting your own.

Arjun Kannan, Co-Founder at Residesk, which helps real estate owners make sense of what residents stay and pay for by texting with millions of renters and understanding what they're actually saying. Previously, he was CTO and CPO at Climb Credit, where he built ML-driven financing products that helped over 10,000 people change careers and improve their earnings. He started his career at BlackRock, building analytics that helped investors make sense of data across ~$2T in assets.

Both Kevin and Arjun are founding engineers turned founders who use agentic coding daily to ship products serving real customers. Having led engineering teams through the 0-to-1 journey and learned to code in "the before times," they bring a unique perspective on what engineering skills remain timeless versus which areas are ripe for modernization. They'll share insights on navigating this transition—what to hold onto, what to let go of, and how to build the intuition for knowing the difference.

What We'll Cover

We'll kick off with a live demo of a real agentic coding workflow, showing what modern development actually looks like in practice. Kevin and Arjun will then break down their building process—taking a real ticket and walking through how they'd implement it end to end.

The heart of the workshop is two breakout sessions where you'll connect with other founding engineers in small groups. First, you'll share how you currently work and brainstorm improvements together. Then, you'll map out the next thing you want to try—whether at work or on a side project—and leave with a concrete plan.

Schedule

  • 9:30 AM - Doors open (coffee & pastries)

  • 10:00 AM - Workshop begins (demo, live building session, breakout groups)

  • 11:20 AM - Workshop wrap and optional Cursor HQ campus tour

Whether you're skeptical, curious, or already knee-deep in Claude/Cursor/Copilot, come learn alongside other founding engineers navigating this shift together. You'll leave with practical skills, new perspectives, and connections with other founding engineers facing similar challenges.

This is one of a recurring series of technical workshops. As the landscape continues to evolve rapidly, we'll keep convening to learn together and stay ahead of what's next.

About Scout: Scout is a career copilot that creates the connections, community, and knowledge to accelerate your startup career.

Hosted by Randy Brown - Founder of Scout, former CTO at Jopwell (YC S15, a16z-backed), and creator of the Founding Engineer Circle community in San Francisco. Randy brings together technical talent through events, workshops, and a private network that helps engineers thrive in early-stage startups.
