Thinking in systems: Applying systems thinking tools to map the current reality of unsustainable tech
Welcome to the third workshop in a series of collaborative systems thinking sessions! We'll continue mapping out the complex challenges hindering the development of sustainable technology.
We will continue to utilise the Bee and the Hive metaphor, using it as a framework to explore the intrinsic complexities and interconnected dependencies inherent in technological unsustainability. Even if you missed the first session or the second session, your unique perspective is welcome and valuable as we build a complete systems map together.
In this crucial third session, we utilize the Iceberg Model and Causal Loop Diagrams (CLDs) to uncover the root causes of few of the categories identified in the first two workshops.
During this workshop, you will:
Learn the systems thinking tools: Understand how to apply the iceberg model and Causal Loop Diagrams (CLDs) to map the current reality of unsustainable tech.
Discover your interests: Identify areas of sustainable tech that particularly resonate with you and align with your passions.
This workshop is an opportunity to connect with fellow ClimateAction.Tech community members, share knowledge, and collectively build a comprehensive understanding of how technology contributes to (and can contribute to solving!) environmental, social, and economic unsustainability.
Join us as we lay the foundation for a powerful series of workshops aimed at driving meaningful change in the tech sector.
This workshop will be facilitated by
Siddhesh Wagle is the founder of SystemsTree. His vision is to empower individuals and organizations to integrate sustainability as a core value into their technological practices. He is a volunteer at CAT and runs the thinking in systems workshop series.
Jon Sleeper is a coach, facilitator and consultant with extensive life experience in technology, business and change. He has worked with software in business, change and delivery management for more than 30 years.
