From Run Lola Run to Startup Decisions: A Conversation on Agency, Risk & Choice
Amela joins Venture Café Berlin’s Thursday Gathering for a special evening where film culture meets startup thinking.
This event is happening as part of the Thursday Gathering by Venture Café Berlin who will handle the checkin on site. Please kindly follow the instructions given after signing up!
Inspired by the iconic film Run Lola Run, this session explores how decision-making, timing, and small choices can radically shape outcomes, whether in life, careers, or building companies.
Below is the agenda for the evening:
🎬 Screening: Run Lola Run
17:30 – 18:50
We begin with a screening of Run Lola Run, directed by Tom Tykwer and starring Franka Potente.
The kinetic 1998 thriller follows Lola, who has 20 minutes to secure 100,000 Deutsche Marks to save her boyfriend, Manni. Told through three “what if” scenarios, the film uses techno music, rapid-fire editing, animation, and split screens to explore fate, agency, and the power of small decisions.
🎤 Group Discussion: Decisions, Chance & Agency — Lessons from Run Lola Run
19:00 – 19:30
Following the screening, Amela will host conversation reflecting on the themes behind Run Lola Run: decision-making under pressure, the role of chance, and how small choices can shape completely different futures.
With the audience, we’ll explore how women today navigate risk, agency, and opportunity, whether building companies, shaping careers, or choosing unconventional paths.
The conversation will briefly open to the audience before transitioning into networking.
